Purk & Associates, P.C., a fast growing, entrepreneurial St. Louis-based CPA firm, is searching for audit and tax interns for their upcoming 2027 tax season. This position is perfect for the accounting student looking to start in public accounting immediately after graduation. The ideal candidate would be trained and assist in the preparation of audits, reviews and compilations as well as a range of tax returns while also working with various levels of employees on our team. This process ensures exposure to different training styles and levels of complexity so all Team Members have opportunities for growth. The firm’s software includes CCH Axcess, Engagement, Knowledge Coach and Microsoft Office Suite.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have the ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Be enrolled in an accounting degree with the intent of graduating with their Bachelors or Masters degrees in Accounting.
- Have a familiarity with federal, state and local tax reporting concepts.
- Have a familiarity with general audit, review and compilation reporting concepts.
- Have a willingness to learn new software and research questions about audit software and tax concepts.
Specific Duties
- Preparation of a wide range of tax returns – individuals, s corporations, corporations, partnerships, and trusts.
- Assistance with various assurance related tasks like auditing reconciliations, vouching source documents and general financial statement presentations.
- Work with various levels of employees on our team (from staff all the way up to partner).
- Assist clients with accounting questions and year-end closings.
- Communicate effectively with other employees and occasionally clients.
- Assist in year-end information filings (i.e., W-2’s, 1099s) and payroll tax returns.
- Assist in special projects as needed.
