Front Line Staff/Administration Participant – Kawishiwi Ranger District

Position Summary
The Front Line team members will spend the summer gaining hands-on experience while supporting the administrative program of the Superior National Forest.
Schedule
June 2, 2025 – August 22, 2025
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The participant will greet and interact with visitors to our visitor center; issue various BWCAW permits; provide directions and information about the forest; provide Leave No Trace education; answer phones and take messages; responding to e-mails; selling gift store merchandise
Marginal Duties
- Assist district personnel with administrative tasks:
- copiers
- scanners
- shipping
- mailing
- Visitor center display
- Enter self-issue permits
Required Qualifications
- College student
- Customer service skills
- Communication skills
- Organizational and administrative skills
- Technology skills. phone, copiers, printers.
- A vehicle is handy to have as we are about a half mile from Ely.
This SCA Position is authorized under the Public Land Corps Authority. All participants must be between the ages of 16 and 30, inclusive, or veterans age 35 or younger. Participants must also be a citizen or national of the United States or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States. Hours served can be applied toward the Public Land Corps (PLC) hiring authority.

40 per week
Living Accommodations
• Housing provided on site o The Kawishiwi Ranger District is located in Ely, MN about 1/2 mile from the heart of the town. Ely is home to about 3400 residents and has all of the amenities and recreation opportunities, including churches that would befit a town of that size
Compensation
• $450/week Living Allowance
• $1,100 To/From Travel Allowance, paid once with first paycheck
All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
