SNY is an Emmy Award winning, multiplatform regional sports network serving millions of homes throughout the New York Metropolitan area and across the country through unparalleled and exclusive coverage of the New York Mets, New York Jets, UConn women’s basketball and all things New York sports.
The Content group at SNY is responsible for the day-to-day planning and production of SNY’s on-air and digital schedule. The role will also involve supporting the production of daily programs such as “Baseball Night in NY”, “Mets Pre Game”, etc., while assisting the SNY Digital Content group with various production and marketing related initiatives, including research, audio/video production, and news gathering.
Responsibilities:
- Strong interest in the sports, television production and social media
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and creative skills
- Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Basic knowledge in Photoshop, Premiere and AVID is a plus
- Screening/logging of games, press conferences, interviews and taped programs to prepare for editing
- Researching for graphic boards, creating on-air graphics, and assisting the ticker operators
- Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Meet deadlines and work as part of a team while also being able to work independently in a fast paced environment
- Possess great organizational skills and has excellent track record for following through on projects
- Assist Associate Producers in the edit rooms
- Working on the production of “Baseball Night in NY”, “Honda SportsNite” and Mets programming
- Preparing, copying and distributing programming information and scripts
- Doing detail work to procure footage from external sources
- Any other tasks needed to support the network’s day-to-day operations
Desired Competencies:
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and creative skills
Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution throughout the program’s duration, with a current academic standing of junior or above
- Pursing or graduated with an undergraduate degree in Communications, Broadcast Journalism, or related fields
- SNY and New York sports knowledge is a plus and interest in digital and sports televised sports production
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by SNY
- Must be willing to adhere to all Company COVID-19 workplace safety policies and protocols
Compensation:
- The hourly rate for this student internship is $16.00.
Location & Time Commitment:
- This role is based onsite at our New York City, NY office, with a minimum commitment of 14 hours per week. Shifts may include evenings and weekends.
