Over 22 Million adults in the US are affected by atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and by 2030, half of all Americans will have some form of cardiovascular disease. Novartis has been at the forefront of Cardiovascular treatment for decades, delivering groundbreaking medicines that extend and improve life.
An emerging risk factor, elevated Lipoprotein(a) – known as lipoprotein “little a” or Lp(a) – is associated with a two- to four-fold increased risk of myocardial infarction and is genetically determined. It can easily be measured by a blood test and it is estimated that 20% of the population worldwide have elevated levels
Expectations: The Medical Intern will collaborate with a broad team of US Medical, Global, Patient Advocacy and US Marketing colleagues. Specific responsibilities will include execution of various timely projects, presentations, data generation plan/publication analytics support and medical information/communications exposure. Additionally, development of educational and other Lp(a) gap needs parallel with associated Medical Director Team.
The Lp(a) Medical Intern will also gain exposure to the broader Cardiovascular Unit and various other roles of the US Medical Operations affording valuable networking/career visibility.
The ideal candidate should be a highly motivated team player with excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Work in parallel with the Medical Directors and broader team members of the Medical Strategy Team and Integrated Product Strategy Team providing data, product support to the scientific team.
- Work closely with Medical Directors to help drive the Medical Strategy Plan ongoing activities.
- Provide input on partner agency calls, ongoing projects and review and development of slides and other educational/strategic projects.
- Manage and archive project related documents in MS Teams as needed.
- Work effectively with secondary data analytics team.
- Actively explore, plan, and implement innovative communications solutions – including through digital channels – in order to address strategic and scientific gaps.
- Update medical engagement plan with team, incorporating diverse Medical functions and capabilities.
Minimum Requirements
- Candidate should be in a US accredited graduate degree-granting college or university pursuing a PharmD (completed 2nd year thus incoming P3 or higher).
- Possesses the interpersonal skills to assist end-users
- Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; and to work in a diverse and changing environment
- Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team
- Good understanding and practical experience in fundamentals of software (i.e., excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams) and data architecture
- Agile
- Good organizational skills
- Highly collaborative, ability to work across various Novartis Medical groups
