Job description

Animation/Illustration Internship Spring 2026

UNPAID PART-TIME

OFFERS COLLEGE CREDIT

About Us:

SlapStik Comedy provides independent comedians a stage to perform. Through podcasts, a quarterly magazine, and more, we showcase rising talent while providing fresh, humorous content to our audience. With over 32,000 followers on social media and growing, we’re building a home for new artists to explore comedic creative freedom in a collaborating environment. Supervisors work with employees; not against them!

Position Overview:

We’re seeking talented and creative interns to join our comics and animation team to work as storyboardists, inkists, and colorists for our various projects. As a member of the team, you choose your adventure, having the opportunity to explore your creativity in all stages of the pipeline. In addition, we are also looking for pioneers and leaders to help bring us to the next level. If you’re looking for an entry-level job and identify as someone who loves drawing, appreciates feedback, and enjoys a good laugh, this role is for you! This position offers college credit.

Responsibilities:

  • Create funny visuals for our comics and animations.
  • Collaborate with fellow creatives, illustrators, and animators on projects.
  • Incorporate feedback and iterate on designs to meet project goals.
  • Review scripts for comedic value.
  • Attend weekly team meetings with a webcam on.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisor and team via email and Microsoft Teams.

Requirements:

We don’t care whether you went to college, got a degree, dropped out, are still obtaining a degree, or are self-taught. We focus on your personality and skills. Here are some things we look for in a good candidate.

  • Available at least 10 hours a week
  • Attend meetings every Sunday from 12pm to 3pm EST
  • Fairly skilled in digital art software
  • Work independently to meet deadlines
  • Flexible team player ready to tackle any challenge
  • Strong ability to follow directions and open to feedback
  • Passionate about design, comics, and animation with a goal to build a career in the field
  • Enjoys laughter and a fun, creative environment
  • Willing to ask questions (yes, even dumb ones) when unsure

To apply:

Submit your resume, portfolio, and cover letter. PDF files are preferred please. Let your resume share your skills and use your cover letter to tell us who you are as a person/artist, why you want to work for SlapStik, and what you want to create in the future. Do you want a career creating animated features, webcomic, or TV shows for example. The portfolio is where you show off your skills and represent what kind of art you want to create. If your portfolio is just a link to your website, it’s fine to upload a pdf of just that link. For any questions, please contact alyxb@comedyslaps.com.

Please keep an eye on your email after the application date has closed. Once the application closes, we take 2 weeks to review the applications and send out emails regarding interviews.

We can’t wait to see your creativity shine!
