The Carondelet (St. Louis) Plant provides some of the largest food, pharmaceutical, and industrial companies with Phosphate Salts and Phosphoric Acids used in a variety of products ranging from baby food to cake mixes, cheeses to meat, poultry, and seafood, and treatment of products from water to semiconductors to asphalt.
Semester(s) Offered: Summer 2024
Scope: This position will assist with identifying and implementing EHS improvements through the application of sound EHS principles. The individual in this role will work cross-functionally across the business which includes operators, maintenance, plant leadership, and corporate support personnel.
I’m interested! What will I get to do in this position?
- Conduct workplace safety and environmental audits evaluating risks, as well as maintaining regulatory compliance
- Participate on the site safety committees to assist local leaders and employees in identifying safety improvements to their areas
- Create and conduct training on environmental, health and safety topics to site personnel and contractors
- Conduct Industrial Hygiene sampling and analyze data to develop solutions for exposure reduction, as needed
- Conduct periodic environmental sampling and analysis to ensure compliance
- Participate with site personnel on identifying innovative technology for safety, environmental and sustainability for lasting improvements
- Ownership and management of other individual projects as assigned
What skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role?
- Pursuing a B.S. or M.S degree in EHS Management, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, or related field
- Must have completed their sophomore year
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization
- Ability to set priorities and demonstrate strong attention to detail
- Highly motivated and eager to learn
- Strong computer skills
