As a participant in our programs, you will gain valuable experience and make contributions through meaningful project work. All internship assignments are project-based and focused on real business challenges important to Akamai’s continued success. Program participants will be encouraged to be proactive members on their team, taking on a comfortable level of responsibility, and challenged to think critically and creatively. Our 12-week intern program starts in May.
Help shape the future of the Internet
During your time with us, you will be working with a global team on our Zero Trust Client product. You will have ample opportunities to learn new subjects and engage with various technologies, toolsets, and software languages. The ideal candidate will be collegial, curious, agile, and demonstrate the ability to quickly learn and apply new skills in a dynamic and often vague environment.
As a Software Engineer Intern, you will be responsible for:
- Collaborating to work on a data path to transfer data to a secure origin.
- Building software features through the full software development lifecycle to be used within Akamai
- Collaborating with the cross-functional team on standards and documentation of processes
Do what you love
To be successful in this role you will:
- Be currently studying in a Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science or a related field and be graduating in December 2026 or later
- Be comfortable working with C/C++
- Have experience working in Linux/Unix environment in a professional setting
- Be knowledgeable or interested in learning about networking protocols
- Be responsible, self-disciplined, self-motivated, able to think analytically and create solutions to complex problems
